Host a Screening Party!
The best way to move toward solutions is to begin talking to one another. Invite people who may not know about these issues and let's get past the polarization. Remember to have respectful (yet spirited!) dialog. Also keep in mind that while the film brings up different ideas, we live in a democracy. It's good to discuss these things!
There are two main ways for an individual to host a screening.
1. Sign up at Brave New Theaters as a host. Here's the link: http://democracy.bravenewtheaters.com
Note: The full title won't fit, so it sometimes appears as Considering Democra, but it's the same film.
2. Or, screen it privately for family and friends
The DVD ships with the first Discussion Menu to help to guide dialog after seeing the film. There are nationwide dates for screening parties, so please keep these in mind for dates. Let’s broaden and drive the U.S. debate leading up to the elections!
Steps for Organizing a Screening
1. Buy the Film
2. Begin Organizing: Decide on a date and place
You' re welcome to use these downloads:
Poster with pictures 8.5 x 11 nothing fancy, won’t take a lot of ink
Poster without pictures - 8.5 x 11
There’s space on the bottom to put the place, date and time for the screening
Postcard vertical size, 4 to 8.5 x 11
2 page = front and back
There’s space on the bottom to put an address label sticker if you’re printing a lot so that you don’t have to write it over and over.
There are also tips on the Brave New Theater website at http://bravenewtheaters.com/guide/host.
Brave New Theaters is doing a very cool thing. The advantage of hosting with them is that the information about the screening is public and online so other people will be able to know about and attend the screening. You can do a search by zip code to see what films are screening in your area.
