Take Action!

There are a few different things that you can do.

1. Screen Considering Democracy and start talking about solutions.

Get the film, the discussion menus and have screening parties. The first discussion menu ships with the DVD, but they can also be found on the downloads page. You can set up a screenings in your home or in your community. We need to begin discussion that includes all political parties and various affiliations, because our policy affects us all. Here are the nationwide screening party dates:

Party #1 July 1-8
Party #2 August 27 - Sept 3
Party #3 October 3 - 13

You can stop the film after a chapter or two and have discussion. The film has a lot of information, so you might want to pace the screening. The Screening page can help you get started.

2. Join an organization. Educate yourself. There are links to the right.

It's nice to work with like-minded people! But it doesn't have to be that way, just as long as you can discuss in a respectful (and spirited!) manner. The action links on the right hand side of the page are some suggestions. Some of them are action based and others are research based. See if there are any that you like.

3. Talk to others!

When we talk, work and network together, our power and strength increases. The fun part is trying to see who you can convince. The next time that telemarketer calls during dinner, picked it up, and instead of being mad or screening it out, have some fun and try to convince them of something. Use your mind and your debating skills!  Together we can get many things accomplished.

4. Write Letters to the Editor or in the Op-Ed section

If you see an article that is biased, use the power of the pen (or pixel) and write! Respond immediately, proof read it, and keep their word limits in mind. If it doesn't get printed, try again. Persistence is key.

5. Keep a sense of humor!

Take a bath, take a break. Remember to laugh with your friends. Sometimes things may seem ridiculous, but it won't change overnight. People do need to eat and sleep. Recharge your batteries. Refresh yourself and it'll probably spur your creativity, then it'll be more fun.
